Cheating in Japan: An Architectural Affair
Hmmmm… An Architect Cuts Corners, and Shakes Japan’s Faith
This is pretty disturbing. Japan has very frequent seismic activity (an opinion, perhaps), so it is almost certain that the buildings in question will suffer potential damage. That’s a pretty risky thing to cut corners on. I would imagine that the death of even one person would weigh heavily on the architect’s conscience (I would hope), let alone the deaths of potentially hundreds. It’s a little hard to believe that they didn’t consider that when they were skipping around the building codes trying to squeeze a few more Yen out of the deal…
