Ethics Updates: A Great Resource on Ethics
After a bit of digging for more information on ethics I found a fantastic site started by Lawrence M. Hinman, a professor of philosophy at the University of San Diego. The site, Ethics Updates, was started by Hinman in 1994, so I’m a bit late in discovering it. I say better late than never, however, as the site has an incredible amount of information. Geared primarily toward those pursuing ethics in an academic capacity, I would recommend it as a resource for anyone interested in ethics.

Hey Peter, “Practical Ethics,” by Peter Singer might interest you. While it might be a little boring to read in my opinion, the concepts are very intriguing and thought-provoking. Also, William Baxter’s “People or Penguins: The Case for Optimal Pollution,” makes strong arguments for and against corporate social responsibility.

Thank you for the suggestions James. I read the excerpt amazon.com offers for Practical Ethics and think it looks pretty interesting. I agree that it might be a bit dry, but I like the subjects Singer tackles in the book and would be interested to read what he has to say. I also think Baxter’s book looks very interesting — I may need to cut back on school work in order to read all of the books I have lined up…
As a side note, and somewhat related to the China trip, I purchased Confessions of an Economic Hit Man the other day and have a feeling it will provide a somewhat different point of view than we have seen regarding China (hopefully) and globalization in general.
